4 Salt Supplements To Fight Cold And Flu

4 Salt Supplements To Fight Cold And Flu

Our pharmacies and supermarkets seem to be filled with cold and flu medications at the moment, from decongestants and analgesics to throat lozenges and nasal sprays. But do any of them actually work?

More often than not, they turn out to be a rather expensive way of simply suppressing your symptoms! And the label reads like a medical encyclopaedia!

Did you know that there is a very simple, natural and cost-effective way of treating colds and flu - with salt supplements?

Natural Cold Cures

When we think 'natural' cold cures, we think of things like honey and lemon. But certain salts also provide excellent healing qualities - minus the nasty chemicals.

We're talking about Magnesium Chloride, Magnesium Sulphate, Sodium Chloride, and Sodium Bicarbonate. Let's take a closer look at each of these.

Magnesium Chloride

Magnesium is the second most prolific mineral in our bodies, so it's no surprise that it's a natural healer, too. The reason being that it plays an extremely important role in helping us fight infection.

Magnesium Chloride is particularly good at treating conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, influenza, tonsillitis and pneumonia, as well as the common cold.

One of the quickest and most effective ways of boosting your magnesium levels is through the skin. It's so easy - just add one to three cups of magnesium flakes to a warm bath and soak away! If you don't have a bath, make yourself a foot spa, by adding half a cup of the flakes to a big bowl of warm water.

Try and spend around 30 minutes soaking up the salty goodness. And afterwards, drink plenty of water to hydrate.

Alternatively, you can use a Transdermal Magnesium Oil. Made from condensed seawater, this handy spray is packed with trace elements and minerals. Just spray it on and allow it to soak in, to ease those uncomfortable aches and pains.

Magnesium Sulphate

Everyone's heard of Epsom Salts, right? Well, that's Magnesium Sulphate. Working in a similar way to magnesium flakes, Epsom Salts are perfect for adding to your bath, to relieve the aches and pains associated with colds and flu.

Your body will absorb this welcome boost of magnesium through the skin, enabling it to detox that nasty virus right out of your system.

Sodium Chloride

Our next 'miracle cure' is Sodium Chloride - more commonly referred to as salt. But not any old salt - we recommend using Himalayan salt.

This pretty pink salt is much more than a condiment - it is one of the purest salts in the world, and an amazing source of trace elements and minerals. The benefits of Himalayan salt can be accessed in several ways, from using the product directly, to salt lamps, salt pipes and bath salts.

Using a Himalayan salt pipe is probably the best way of treating congestion, coughs and respiratory conditions. It is simple to use, well researched, and very effective.

Sodium Bicarbonate

Our final 'super salt' is Sodium Bicarbonate. Yep, good old Bicarb! An old-fashioned product used for everything from treating infection, to cleaning your house!

Infection of any kind thrives in an acidic or low PH environment. And that means that the acidity of our Western diet actually encourages ill health. Pharmaceutical grade bicarbonate of soda can help neutralise the acid and bring our bodies back into balance.

Available as a safe supplement, Bicarb Soda is antiseptic, anti-fungal and antibacterial. You can take it in water to balance your PH, or dissolve it in a warm bath. You can even make it into an effective mouthwash and nasal rinse to boot those cold and flu symptoms into submission!

These therapeutic salts are not only good for curing colds and flu, they may even boost our longevity. Perhaps that's why mermaids are said to live for 300 years!
